E-Business Conference 2009

Yesterday saw the second e-Business Conference at The National B2B Centre, Warwick University. This year's theme was Finding and Keeping Profitable Customers, with presentations from thought-leaders in internet marketing and sales, including Dave Chaffey (e-Marketing Guru).

Much attention was given to Social Media and its growing role in business marketing. What emerged from the presentations and talking to other delegates, was a growing recognition of the power social media and the need to engage, even if it's not a natural thing for people to do - it's something we're all having to learn, and pretty quickly too. And with each engagement comes another "administrative" burden for already very busy people: writing blogs, tweeting, participating in forums, communities and a host of other online tools.

Whilst there are some clever tools that help with disseminating content by automatically updating multiple social media sites, there remains the task of producing content, and more importantly keeping this up over a long period of time if it is to have any impact on your personal visibility and website optimisation.

Herein lies opportunities for VAs, to help time-pressed business people to build their online presence, writing content, creating profiles, blogging, tweeting and many other things. This type of admin support service seems to fall into 3 categories:
  1. Social Media
  2. Email Marketing
  3. Sales Management
I shall blog some more about each one in a little more detail next week.
