Do Virtual Assistants offer short-hand typing?

As a rule, the answer is no. Short-hand is normally a face-to-face service. It is possible to take short-hand notes of teleconference or video conferences, but why would you, when they are easily recorded. Audio transcription is the VAs' main typing skill, transcribing digital voice files mainly and occasionally from old fashioned tapes.

Last month we had a request for short-hand, to take verbatim notes for a employment hearing at a local solicitors. Luckily, one of our more experienced PAs has this increasingly rare skill. We now have an ongoing agreement to provide this service to this HR consultant, because when it comes to legal hearings apparently in-person note taking is preferable to recordings. Being local, we were easily able to provide the service - if it were further afield, the travel costs would start to make it uneconomic.

On-site short-hand isn't one of our standard virtual Typing Services, but this client is expanding their operations in the Nottingham-Mansfield area - a UK grievance/dispute hotspot allegedly - so we are now looking recruit our next VA in that area
