Easy ways to capture your thoughts on the move to have them typed

How many times do you find yourself having thoughts that you need to capture, so you don't lose them? ... I often have ideas or think of things I need to do as I'm travelling.

If you are travelling by train or plane it's easy to make hand-written notes or dictate them. But, if you in the car or out and about then what do you do? One easy answer is to use your mobile phone, and if you are driving that means using the voice-activated hands-free features, or pull over to be safe and legal.

For those of us who have a Virtual PA or use a Virtual Assistant, you'll find that some offer a "You Talk - We Type" Service, which is great if you have these thoughts during the working day, and she happens to be free at the time. Another option is to use a Dictation Line Service - basically a long Voicemail Message - which is ideal for notes and instructions, and your VA can prioritise your work along with her other clients. Ideally, you will have your notes typed by the time you next look at your email.

We've just started using this with clients. We had a Dictation Line for the last few years, but most of our clients have preferred to dictate using Digital Pocket Memos. Now, we're seeing more people wake-up to the idea of capturing their thoughts, ideas and giving us instructions on the move, and get a dedicated telephone number and personal message box.

We're finding more of our clients are dictating notes and recording telephone interviews on their iPhone ... perhaps this is part of the iPhone revolution?
